Travel in Chinese
It is the time of year when once again the major horse conventions come to china. Due to this it makes
me think of a night mare situation I had in Germany. I also remember as I just bumped into one of the horses
I was taking care of in Germany who happened to remember me although I didn’t remember her at first.
Trying to make more money the German quarantine stable hired disabled people and Rumanians to care for
the horses. The disabled weren’t even paid and weren’t properly supervised. The Germans were paying the
Rumanians 13 of the minimum wage so of course they couldn’t even eat on the money they were paid. We
had a large shipment of horses going on two planes to China. There were so many horses we had them at
two different stables about 10 miles apart. As usual I went to oversee the quarantine. This had been a wonderful
quarantine as the German workers were very knowledgeable about horses and hard workers. Everything went
wrong that could happen at that quarantine as the Rumanians were stealing the horse’s food to resell it to earn
enough to eat. My job was to make sure the horses were ok. This type of night mare is what has happened by
the European Union letting in so many countries that were economically weak. I did succeed in getting the
horses to China in wonderful condition but it was a night mare. My reward is one of the horses in that lot remembered
me fondly after a 4 year time!
